Using Item Class

The item class gives users another way to subtotal and filter margin reports in a way that an item mask cannot. The item class (a two-character code) and the item subclass (a three character code) are assigned to items to use in the mask or report filters.

Use an item class when you wish to provide grouping for sales and management reporting in other ways than item groups and item digit definition would provide.
